Berlin (Marathon) 2022

I finally made it to Berlin! I have been planning to visit and race in Berlin since 2020! My travels have changed because of the pandemic. My trip was fantastic, and my race was rewarding! The Neue Wache or New Guardhouse memorializes the victims of war and tyranny. Käthe Kollwitz's famous Pietà sculpture "Mother and her Dead Son."

I will not lie! I was really scared of going up in the balloon! I did not let go of the holding when it went up!

I am a picky eater, and I tried this because a waitress recommended it to me. It was really good! Matjes Hausfrauenart / white herring, cream sauce, apple, onion (cold)

Checkpoint Charlie was the best-known Berlin Wall crossing point between East and West Berlin during the Cold War.

Above-"Berlin Story Bunker" re-creates a section of Hitler's 3,000-square-foot underground living space near the end of World War II. Where he committed suicide. I could not take pics inside.

East Side Gallery

A must-see in Germany is Berlin's East Side Gallery. The ESG is the world's largest open-air gallery and features 101 images painted on the Berlin Wall. I went to see it during my last few hours in Berlin. LOVE IT!
