Running the 2024 Chicago Marathon was a dream over a decade in the making. After years of trying my luck in the lottery, I finally secured a spot this year, and the experience was nothing short of incredible! Having already completed the NYC Marathon 10 times and 7 other marathons, exploring a new city and course for my marathon journey was thrilling.

The energy in Chicago was electric, and the race was challenging and exhilarating. From the enthusiastic crowds lining the streets to the beautiful views of the city, every mile was memorable. But my trip wasnโ€™t just about the marathon but also an opportunity to explore Chicagoโ€™s rich culture and history.

I made time to visit The Art Institute of Chicago, home to an extraordinary collection of artwork. Of course, I couldnโ€™t miss the cityโ€™s iconic โ€œBeanโ€ sculpture, which was as reflectiveโ€”literally and figurativelyโ€”as I imagined. Yet, the true highlight of my visit was spending time at the DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center. The museumโ€™s incredible collection of Black history artifacts and art left a lasting impression and reminded me of the power of resilience and creativity.

This marathon experience is not just about crossing the finish lineโ€”it is a journey filled with culture, history, and personal accomplishment. Chicago, you didnโ€™t disappoint, and Iโ€™m grateful to have finally checked this race off my bucket list!

Just three weeks after conquering the Chicago Marathon, I laced up again to take on my 11th NYC Marathonโ€”proving that the spirit of resilience and determination knows no limits!
