Christmas & New Years' Meals @ St. John the Divine
In celebration of Christmas this year, my friends and I got together to purchase apple pies, rotisserie chickens, and turkeys for the soup kitchen where I volunteer. It was a great event that put turkey on the clientsโ plates for Christmas!
For the New Year Meal, my friends helped fund the return to black-eye peas w/ turkey bacon for our New Year meal, but we added cornbread to the menu! Cornbread is a popular southern add-on for the New Year meal with black-eye peas! We had apple pies and rotisserie chickens. Also, with the help of two vegetarian volunteers, we were able to spice up the warehouse-purchased potato salad with top-secret add-ons! ๐
We served ~200 clients at each meal!
Happy New Year to the best volunteers/donors in the world! May your year ahead be filled with success and happiness!
Photo-op
I stopped to take a photo opportunity, without volunteer Adrienne aware of what I was doing; letโs just say that she gave me that look of somebody just wanting to cut up the turkey! ๐คฃ
