Volunteers Serve Up a Special Warm Meal for those who need help
On April 8th and 15th of 2023, a group of volunteers from the local community came together to host special days! For Easter, we served a special hot meal to those in need and provided them with Palms on Palm Sunday. The special event was held at St. John The Divine, and it was a great success, where meals happen every Sunday!
The special Easter meal included a variety of dishes, such as rotisserie chicken, mixed vegetables, mashed potatoes, King’s Hawaiian sweet bread, and apple pie. There was also coffee available.
Volunteers prepared a nice candy bag with sweets, a nice message, and a Chinese Fortune Cookie on Easter!
Over 200 people attended the special Easter meal, and they were all grateful for the opportunity to have a warm meal and a friendly conversation. The volunteers were also happy to help, and they said it was a rewarding experience.
"It's important to give back to the community," said one volunteer. "Many people are struggling, and we're just glad we could help."
The generous donations of local businesses and individuals made the meal possible. The volunteers also worked hard to prepare and serve the food, and they all did a great job.
This event was a great example of how the community can come together to help those in need. It was a heartwarming experience for everyone involved, and it is sure to be repeated soon.
